Make a Stunning Table Centerpiece out of a Grocery Store Bouquet.

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves (seriously ask any of my friends) is when people buy grocery store bouquets and just plop them into a jar. It literally makes my flower lovin’ skin crawl. If this is you, don't worry I'm not judging. I'm here to help! Many grocery stores these days have quality items in their floral departments at prices that won’t break the bank. With a little love and creativity, you can make any grocery store bouquet look like a million bucks.

Today I will walk you through the 8 easy steps.  WatchVideo here!

Step #1:  Buy some blooms.  If you are lucky enough to have a Trader Joe’s in your community it is a great place to go for inexpensive bouquets. They sell bundles as low as $3.99.  The key to a beautiful and full grocery store arrangement is to get a few of those smaller bouquets. The $3.99 ones work great for a variety-filled bouquet!

Step #2: Separate and Prep. Take the flowers out of the wrapping and separate them by bloom.

This way you can see what you are working with and begin to decide what flowers you want to be the focal points of your arrangement.

Step #3: Start with the greens. Your mama taught you this when it came to a balanced diet, welp it also applies when it comes to a beautiful arrangement too! Build a base around the rim of your jar. This ensures that your flowers will have something to sit on and it will make your arrangement look full and lush.

Pro Tip: Hold the stem up to the mason jar over the edge of your countertop. This way you can see where you want the flower to sit in the jar, then you clip the stem. It is always better to under trim. You can always cut more, but you can’t put it back once it's gone!

Step #4: Add your larger blooms. Now it is time to add some flowers. Clustering one or two larger blooms together on the right and left side at different heights makes for an eye-catching arrangement.

Step #5: It’s a party in the back. Don’t forget to turn your arrangement around and look at it from the back. A table arrangement is viewed from all directions so don’t neglect this angle. Repeat Step #4 while you are back there.

Step #6: Add your filler flowers.  Do you have some holes in your arrangement? You can add the remaining filler flowers or greens to fill in the holes.

Step #7: Add dimension. I love to add one or two blooms or greens that stick a bit further out than the others to give the arrangement dimensions. It helps the arrangement look more out of the box and fun. Go ahead, give it a try!

Pro Tip: You can’t mess it up, I swear! There is truly no “right” or “wrong” way to create an arrangement. Taking a little bit of time and following these simple steps will ensure that your arrangement is beautiful and representative of your style and taste.

Step #8. Enjoy your flowers! Now it is time to sit back and admire your work. Remember changing out the water every few days will always keep your centerpiece looking fresh. Invite your best gal pals over for some afternoon wine and aperitivos and your stunning arrangement will steal the show!
